The Community Paediatric Service are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Secretary to work as part of the team, to provide secretarial and administration support to the clinical team.
You will play a key role in contributing to the efficient running of the administration tasks to support the delivery of the service.
The admin team work closely with medical and clinical colleagues in the team and across the directorate.
The Community Paediatric Service is part of the children's integrated health teams and works closely with colleagues from therapies and nursing to support children with SEND. The team continually work towards improvements to provide the best possible outcomes for children and families in Oldham. This provides the post holder with great opportunities to provide a quality service for children and families.
Main duties of the job
- To provide a comprehensive, professional audio / digital transcription and clinic administration service to support the clinical team.
- The Medical Secretary is expected to be aware of speciality typing requirements using their own initiative with guidance from the Medical Personal Assistants and / or Clinical Administration Supervisor where applicable.
- Will be required to work as part of a team with other Medical Secretaries and provide cross cover during periods of staff absences to include the Medical Personal Assistant.

Qualifications
Essential
- Word processing - Qualified to RSA III/NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification/demonstrable skills (60+ wpm at 98% accuracy
Desirable
- AMSPAR Medical Secretarial Diploma
- ECDL or equivalent qualification
- City and Guilds Certificate in Medical Terminology, or equivalent demonstrable skills/experience
Knowledge, skills and experience
Essential
- Experience of providing secretarial services in a health environment
- Experience of using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook
- Experience of using IM&T systems for data entry
- Experience of successfully working within tight time frames and to deadlines
- Advanced keyboard skills
- Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner
- Proven organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload with interruptions and changing priorities
- Ability to multi-task and prioritise own workload
- Good command and understanding of English, punctuation and grammar
- Experience of using digital dictation systems
Desirable
- Experience of using Patient Administration System
- Experience of medical audio typing
