Job overview

Promoting the Trust as an excellent place to learn and develop clinical skills to care for patients, through the provision of administrative support for the clinical skills and resuscitation team. The post holder will contribute to the overall quality of any clinical educational course/programme/training delivered within the Clinical Skills Centre.

The primary focus of the role is to co-ordinate and organise courses held within the clinical skills centre, and the day-to-day administration of the centre. The post holder will contribute to the overall quality of any clinical education courses/programmes/training. In pursuing these duties the post holder will ensure compliance with the NHS constitution and local trust values, and be familiar with the NHS England Guidance ‘Understanding the new NHS’.

Main duties of the job

  • Co-ordination, planning, organising, registering and general course administration, of all RCUK/RCS (and other) registered courses held in the clinical skills centre (CSC)
  • Involvement in the planning, organising, and advertising of all non-RCUK/RCS courses delivered in the CSC (includes all BLS courses and additional courses as directed by service need/clinical education team)
  • Support during courses to include faculty and candidate advice/support, basic IT support, provision of refreshments and MCQ examination invigilation and marking; this may sometimes include weekend/out of hours working
  • Responsible for liaising with the professional/national governing bodies of each course (RCS/RCUK/ALSG etc.)
  • Responsible for course budgeting; handling incoming monies, liaising with the finance department, maintaining a positive course balance; maintaining accurate financial records for production as required by management
  • Post course administration to include formal notifications to candidates of results, submitting results to registering bodies
  • To act as first point of call regarding booking on to courses and for ongoing enquiries, relating to any courses held within the CSC
  • To provide a high-quality Medical Education Administrative service for all users and will have responsibility for the promotion, organisation and evaluation of Medical Education.
