We are seeking an enthusiastic MDT Coordinator Assistant to join our Head and Neck Cancer team, supporting the delivery of high-quality care to patients throughout their cancer pathway.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the centre of a busy multidisciplinary service, helping to coordinate complex patient journeys from referral through to treatment. Working closely with clinicians, nurses, allied health professionals and operational teams, you will play an important role in ensuring patients receive timely care in line with national cancer standards while contributing to service improvement initiatives and pathway development.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will support the Head and Neck MDT team in coordinating and monitoring complex cancer pathways to ensure patients progress through diagnosis and treatment within national cancer waiting time standards, including the Faster Diagnosis Standard (FDS) and 62-day pathways. You will support the management of referrals from a variety of sources, including Inter-Trust Referrals (ITRs), and work closely with internal and external organisations to ensure seamless care for patients referred to our specialist Head and Neck service.
The role includes attendance at weekly MDT meetings to support preparation of meeting materials, recording and communication of outcomes, and facilitating timely progression of surgical and treatment pathways. You will work closely with clinicians and operational teams to identify and escalate delays, support surgical planning and capacity management, and contribute to the proactive management of patient tracking lists.
You will also support the maintenance and validation of cancer pathway data, contribute to COSD and other national reporting requirements, and assist with virtual clinic outcomes to ensure follow-up appointments, investigations and discharge arrangements are actioned promptly and accurately.

Working within a highly specialised multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with ENT, Maxillofacial, Oncology, Speech and Language Therapy, Dietetics, Clinical Nurse Specialist and administrative colleagues to deliver an excellent patient experience and contribute to ongoing service improvement and pathway development initiatives.

Essential
- Demonstrable level of administrative experience at a high level of competence acquired through both training and experience
- Demonstrable experience of working in an office environment
- Previous NHS or healthcare experience

- Able to deal professionally and sensitively with patients, carers, and public face to face and on the phone
