Band 8a - Matron Surgical Division Full time - 37.5 hours per week

Do you want to be part of innovative and highly motivated Senior Nurse team who are passionate about improving the care we deliver to a varied patient group?  An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Matron to join us within the Surgical Division to complement the existing Matrons and contribute to the delivery of excellent patient care and lead on quality improvement initiatives within the Division. Excellent communication skills and strong visible leadership  will enable you to develop and empower your teams to deliver improvement projects. You will also have a passion for the development of staff whilst creating a conducive learning environment across your clinical areas.

Main duties of the job

You will have extensive clinical experience and have been in a leadership role within an acute hospital setting.  You will be required to work both within a team and independently to deliver Division and local objectives whilst ensuring patient care is being delivered safely and to a high standard.  As Matron, you will be responsible and accountable to the Lead Nurse and the Divisional Director of Nursing ensuring the daily management of a number of inpatient areas is maintained and that your professional leadership enables staff, patients and relatives to engage in the way care is delivered at a local level.  Matrons are pivotal in the delivery of professional standards and embodying values and behaviours, therefore you will work closely with the Senior Nursing structure to ensure these are upheld across the organisation.
