Maternity Infant Feeding Advisor

The post holder will work alongside other members of the multi professional team to provide additional feeding support to families and babies to help them achieve their feeding goals. The role also includes supporting the Infant Feeding Team to maintain Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) accreditation, participating in conducting audit and other tasks as directed by the Infant Feeding Lead.

This is a permanent position, that will have a focus on meeting the needs of babies who are born prematurely, and women at risk of giving birth prematurely. The postholder will work closely with the preterm birth prevention team, PeriPrem team, neonatal unit, and maternity departments to ensure preterm babies receive breastmilk within 6 hours of birth in line with the PeriPrem bundle. The funding for this post is to provide support to women/birthing people and their babies over evenings and weekends. The postholder will be responsible for parent antenatal education around the benefits of early expressed breast milk for preterm babies, and assist parents with the preparation for feeding a baby born prematurely.

• To undertake any identified training to ensure compliance with the role
• To maintain stores and equipment and ensure proper use
• To report complaints, incidents and accidents to the midwife in charge and assist in their investigation and resolution
• To record and submit clinical activity and information as requested
