The position is Monday to Friday working between the hours of 06:30 - 15:30. Main duties will be to assist Materials Supervisor in providing and maintaining high level of standards within the department. To deliver an efficient service for the trust.

Main duties of the job
Assist in the receipt and distribution of ad hoc deliveries including the management of stock ordered for the bulk stores facility. Take responsibility for the security of goods from the point of receipt and ensure stock is correctly stored and distributed to all Areas. Comply with the principles of risk management including health and safety legislation, promoting high standards and acting immediately on hazards or unsafe practices in conjunction with other staff. Undertake any other tasks as required by the Operational Materials Manager , Assistant Materials Manager or Materials Supervisor in accordance with the grade and nature of the post as required.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Provide support to the Materials Management function by putting away stock in ward and department storerooms.
- Assist in the receipt and distribution of ad hoc deliveries including the management of stock ordered for the bulk stores facility.
- Ensure stock is put away in the correct location and the store rooms are kept tidy at all times.
- Support the expansion of the Materials Management function across the remaining wards and departments within the Trust in accordance with the proposed Materials Management 'roll out' plan.
- Ensure stock items delivered are correct and that agreed stock levels are maintained.
- Assist in the development and improvement of relationships between the Procurement Dept. and ward staff.

- • Ability to communicate effectively with customers & suppliers. • Ability to analyse data, make decisions and own & resolve problems. • Skilled in the movement, handling & storage of goods. • Ability to work on own initiative & to prioritise and organise own workload.
Knowledge
Essential
- • Knowledge of materials management processes & procedures and use of data capture and ordering systems.
Experience
Essential
- • Material management experience. • Experience in handling & moving heavy roll - cages & packages.
Desirable
- • Experience of stock control /materials management systems Within NHS.
Qualifications
Essential
- • Computer literacy including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel. • Educated to GCSE or equivalent standard
Desirable
- • Handling & Moving Training (with appropriate certification)
