The role:

Would you like to play a key role in innovative projects that shape the future of healthcare?

We are looking for someone who is highly motivated to work in a challenging but enjoyable role managing a varied portfolio of projects within the Research and Innovation Directorate.

As a key member of the Directorate Finance Team, you will be responsible for the provision of a professional financial management service to key stakeholders across Health, Academia and Industry.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • This is a permanent post working full-time hours (36)
  • These hours will be worked Monday to Friday
  • You will be based at Dykebar Hospital -We are a remote friendly employer supporting office and hybrid working however, regular presence at our Dykebar office is a requirement of this role. We are based on the outskirts of Paisley with free parking and easy access to the motorway network you’ll be part of an inclusive and innovative finance team.

Key responsibilities:

You will be competent in the management of financial information, financial reporting, budgetary control processes and governance arrangements.

Ideally a professionally qualified accountant (or with equivalent work experience) you will be computer literate with excellent communication and organisational skills.

You will have the capacity for analytical and innovative thinking, and a track record of delivering to strict timelines within a dynamic environment.

You will have learning opportunities - build a skill set and gain experiences which are a foundation for an exciting and prosperous career, while also having access to Scotland’s public finance network and the mentoring, training and shadowing prospects that it offers.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Professional accountancy qualification or equivalent experience
  • Significant experience of working within the NHS or equivalent large complex organisation
  • Able to effectively plan, prioritise and manage own workload and supervise a team to ensure key deliverables
  • Competent in the management of financial information, financial reporting, governance arrangements, budget setting processes and budgetary control processes
  • Able to advise finance and non-finance managers on matters relating to their own area, providing detailed guidance and support
  • Excellent IT skills with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, together with in-depth, specialist knowledge of financial computer systems
  • Supervisory skills
  • Capable of dealing diplomatically and successfully engaging with a variety of staff at all levels, both within and outside the NHS
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Effective written and oral communication skills and good presentation skills
  • Problem-solving and change management skills
