We are looking for a full time Locum Consultant Paediatric ENT surgeon to deliver activity between St George's University Hospitals and Croydon University Hospitals.
The establishment of St George’s as a major trauma centre in April 2010 has also increased the need for emergency cover for paediatric trauma in cases where airway management is required. It is therefore envisaged that this post will work closely with the Paediatric consultant team as well as colleagues within the ENT Department.
A hub and spoke network for ENT operates within South West London centred on St. George’s Hospital covering a population of 1.7million. The aim is to provide a collaborative and integrated service for South West Thames and surrounding counties. All in-patient operating has been centralised on the St. George’s Hospital site. The other linked hospital units within the group include Croydon University Hospital NHS Trust, Kingston NHS Trust, and Epsom and St Helier Hospitals NHS Trust and Queen Mary’s Hospital. Outpatient clinics and day surgery continue on these sites
Start Date 6 July 2026 to 5th April 2027
Main duties of the job
- Promotion of (and participation in) teaching within the department
- Flexible cover for the clinical commitments of the department
- To be active in research and to continue to maintain and update their professional knowledge
- To fulfil all the general conditions applying to employees of and St George’s Healthcare Trust (see below)
- On call duties will be 1:14 frequency
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We are looking for an enthusiastic clinician with special interest in Paediatric ENT to contribute to delivering the highest quality of patient care. The post holder will be expected to work closely with colleagues and management in developing the ability of the department to respond to operational pressures together with clinical governance and longer-term service strategies both at St George's and Croydon Hospitals. This is a full-time post consisting of 10 programmed activities including on call commitments.
