An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time (10 PA) Locum Consultant Ophthalmologist in Urgent Eye and Cataracts within the Ophthalmology Service at Royal Free London NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job

The Ophthalmology department serves patient in the North Central London area and offers a comprehensive range of routine and specialist ophthalmic services and treatments across multiple sites. Sub-specialty services include medical retina, surgical retina, cornea / anterior segment, oculoplastic, neuro ophthalmology and glaucoma. The successful candidate will join a clinical team of Consultant Surgeons, Specialty Doctors and trainees, supported by Orthoptists, Optometrists, Nurses and Ophthalmic Technicians.

Main Duties

Assist with the provision of Urgent Eye and Cataract services for Royal Free London NHS Trust Support infection prevention & control and antimicrobial stewardship activities. Participate in the supervision and training of specialty trainees and clinical scientists, teaching of other junior trainees, medical students and hospital staff as appropriate. Participate in quality improvement and clinical audit. Participate in service development and policy review. Participate in CPD and quality assurance activity including annual appraisal and revalidation.

  • Broad experience in Ophthalmology and subspecialty experience in Glaucoma

  • Training and education of undergraduate and postgraduate students
