Job overview

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and knowledgeable locum Consultant Urological Surgeon (10 PA) to contribute to the elective recovery and continued restoration of Urology service within the Royal Free London.

This 10 PA locum post will work with the multidisciplinary team to provide specialist expertise in the management of lower tract patients.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work in a multidisciplinary team to provide specialist expertise in the following areas:

- Out-patient clinics across the Royal Free Hospital and Barnet Hospital for new and follow up patients

- Outpatient diagnostic procedures e.g. flexible cystoscopy and prostate biopsies

- In-patient and day case surgical operating lists

- Attendance at multidisciplinary meetings

- Participation in the audit and governance activities of the department.

The initial duration of this post will be 12 months but will be subject to review.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Knowledge

Essential

  • • Understanding of current NHS and Trust priorities
  • • Knowledge of the challenges facing the service
  • • Understanding of the environment in which the service is delivered

Experience

Essential

  • Subspecialist expertise in endourology, including HoLeP
  • Experience in working in multidisciplinary teams
  • Good research and publication record
  • Track record of delivering high quality undergraduate and postgraduate education in Urology

Desirable

  • Outstanding record of research

  • Openness
  • Ability to resolve conflict satisfactorily

  • Possession of MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
