This is an excellent opportunity to join a first class team within a larger group of diagnostic radiologists with other areas of wide ranging expertise. In addition to supporting the established diagnostic radiology services, the post holder will be expected to take an active interest in service development, to participate in teaching programs, and research and development.
Main duties of the job
Radiology Services is seeking to appoint a new full time (10 PA) Locum Consultant Diagnostic Radiologist (9 DCC / 1 SPA) with an interest in Breast Imaging. The post is for 12 months and is required to fill temporary vacancies and to meet increasing demand for breast and other diagnostic radiology services. We are seeking to appoint a subspecialty trained radiologist who is enthusiastic to join our team and be actively involved in the full range of adult diagnostic radiology. The post will include breast radiology specific sessions provided for the busy symptomatic breast service and support the Breast multidisciplinary meetings (MDM). The symptomatic breast radiology service is run from a dedicated unit and includes VAMs, breast MRI and biopsy and contrast enhanced mammography. There will be sessions of CT, MRI and plain film reporting and commitment to support oncology and acute services. The successful candidate will participate in the adult diagnostic radiology on call and should be able to support the Radiology Department’s strong culture of teaching and service improvement.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Your job plan is anticipated to contain 10 Programmed Activities per week on average to be carried out on Guy’s & St Thomas’ sites and includes on-call commitments. As a Department we are open to flexible working patterns which suit the Department and individual needs with agreement with the Clinical Director and Clinical Lead. Over the last year, remote Home Reporting solution has been deployed to the majority of radiologists across all subspecialties. Continuing roll out is anticipated as the need arises and flexible and home working patterns will be reviewed. A proposed job plan is provided and the post holder will be expected to discuss and agree a detailed job plan, including personal and professional objectives, with the Clinical Director within 3 months of starting.

Professional Qualifications
Essential
- Eligible for full UK GMC registration and a Licence to Practice
- On GMC Specialist Register or within six months of attaining CCT.
- FRCR or equivalent
Clinical Experience & Skills
Essential
- Completion of specialist radiology training programme
- Subspecialty training in Breast Radiology
- Independent performance and reporting of general CT and xray imaging.
- Independent performance of guided biopsy/FNA of breast lesions and USS and mammography reporting.
Desirable
- Experience in participating and leading multidisciplinary meetings
- Experience of breast MRI and VAMs.
- Experience of Independent MDM work
