An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Trust as a locum Consultant Clinical Oncologist covering Breast, Urology and Renal SABR cancers. There will also be a commitment to Barnet AOS service.
The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest and busiest Trusts in London with a well-established national and international reputation for clinical excellence and world-class care. In January 2025, the Royal Free London and North Middlesex University Hospitals Trusts merged, and we now deliver care to over 2 million people a year through our four main health units. There are chemotherapy infusion suites to treat cancer patients at The Royal Free, Finchley Memorial, North Middlesex and Chase Farm health units whilst radiotherapy is delivered at the Royal Free and North Middlesex health units.
The Trust is one of the highest volume providers of breast and urology cancer and has a rapidly increasing renal SABR practice.
The post-holder will work alongside clinical and medical oncology colleagues at the Royal Free and Barnet health units.
The successful candidate should have experience of working within a multidisciplinary team; have a wide experience in Clinical Oncology but in particular in breast and renal SABR management.
Main duties of the job
The core responsibilities of the post holder will be as follows:
To develop and support the breast and urology cancer service at Barnet health unit To develop and support the renal SABR service at Royal Free health unit To attend weekly tumour specific urology, renal and breast MDTs To support Barnet AOS To take responsibility for the designated clinical workload including all relevant MDMs and out-patient clinics. To take part in radiotherapy clinical trials in breast and urology at Barnet health unit To provide dedicated time to deliver SABR for extra cranial oligometastatic disease at RFL Trust To participate in the radiotherapy (1 in 8) and acute oncology (1 in 18) on call rota To attend monthly consultant departmental meetings To provide postgraduate teaching for junior staff To provide clinical supervision for specialist registrars To participate in undergraduate medical student teaching To comply with all the clinical governance processes and procedures of the Trust To lead and participate in medical audit as per Royal College of Radiologist guidelines To maintain Continuing Professional Development accreditation as per Royal College of Physicians guidelines To participate in the Trust appraisal programme and GMC revalidation processes

Education & Professional Qualifications

- Possession of MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Membership of the Royal College of Radiologists
- Accreditation by the RCR or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT (or equivalent) at time of interview
- Eligible for GMC registration and entry onto the GMC Specialist Register in the area of Clinical Oncology
Desirable
- Post graduate medical degree eg MD / PhD
