Job overview

This is a full-time post and the post holder will be part of the department of Anaesthesia, in the Core Clinical Services Directorate. This is a 10 PA per week post. This position is a substantive appointment with a 1:16 on-call commitment.

Main duties of the job

As a member of the anaesthetic department you will be expected to deliver specialist paediatric care throughout the perioperative period. This will include the preoperative preparation of patients, their intraoperative care and to ensure a safe postoperative environment.

  • Extensive experience in Paediatric Anaesthesia

  • Published research in peer reviewed journals in relevant area
  • Awareness of the importance of Clinical Governance through experience of participating in quality or safety improvement projects

Desirable

  • Experience of recruiting patients to clinical research trials
  • Experience of working in shared care clinics and clinical networks
  • Experience of clinical leadership or management

Academic/Professional qualification/Training

Essential

  • GMC specialist registration with a Licence to Practice (obtained by designated start date)
  • FRCA or equivalent
  • CCT/CCST in Anaesthesia or equivalent training and experience (eligible for CESR)
  • A year or more of recognised specialist paediatric anaesthesia training

Desirable

  • Higher degree – PhD, MD or equivalent
  • Formal teaching qualification or evidence of experience
  • Management qualification or evidence of experience
