If so then we want to hear from you! We are looking for an experienced nurse colposcopist who is passionate about service delivery and patient experience.

The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner in colposcopy and will have in depth knowledge of national and local colposcopy/screening policies and guidelines. They will give appropriate specialist advice, they will also assess diagnose pre-cancerous/cancerous changes on the cervix and give appropriate treatment, and follow up care.

The post holder will be required to supervise qualified and unqualified staff. The post holder is committed to maintaining and improving the quality of care for patients referred to colposcopy in line with the NHSCSP guidelines. (National Health Service Cervical Screening Programme). In conjunction with the lead consultant they will manage the delivery of a colposcopy unit.

The post holder will support, manage and develop and represent the views of the specialist nurse colposcopists, colposcopy nurses and other support staff within the colposcopy unit. The post holder will lead and contribute to the overall standards and quality of service provision in the organisation and support the failsafe process in conjunction with the Lead Colposcopist, by being a positive role model and to treat all staff, visitors and service users with courtesy.

Main duties of the job

To support the lead consultant colposcopist & the CSPL to ensure the service is delivered efficiently complying with regional standards.

The post-holder will have responsibility for a caseload (patients/service-users) and will provide an effective and high-quality patient-focused service that is sensitive to the needs of users and providers.

The post-holder will provide clinical, social, and psychological support to their patients/service-users using excellent communication skills, education and health promotion to enable them to reach their optimum level of independence and health.

The post-holder will be responsible for the delivery of advanced nursing skills within complex care pathways and will provide highly specialist advice and support to the defined caseload (patients/service-users) and to other health care providers. Undertaking the total management of women referred to the service, including a full history, ordering, and interpreting investigations, undertaking examination and colposcopy and formulating a management plan for the women.

Ensure robust clinical leadership within the sphere of responsibility and accountability.
