Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to work within an NHS Laundry based in North Wales. We are looking to recruit a Laundry Production Supervisor to work in the laundry site based at the Glan Clwyd Hospital in Rhyl.
The role will suit an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is keen to work in a busy production environment that processes linen for Hospitals and Health care premises across North Wales.
The role will involve the overall supervision of the production process working closely with the site laundry management team.
Main duties of the job
The Laundry Production Supervisor will be required to be able to manage all work sections of the production area.
Duties will include the management of staff and resources within the section to achieve optimum production levels of service, as prescribed by the laundry management.
The post holder will assume responsibility for monitoring the quality of work produced on the section.
The post holder shall also be instrumental in motivating staff and will assist in identifying and providing support in the training and development of production staff.
The supervisor will be required to assume the responsibilities of the Deputy Laundry Manager, on an ad hoc basis.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Job responsibilities
To be adaptable in their approach to work and be able to work in all sections of the production area.
To communicate instructions to staff and be able to implement instructions of the Laundry Management Team.
Day to day management of laundry production staff.
To undertake Line Management functions of staff such as disciplinaries, PADRs, Sickness Reviews, Return to work etc.
Use of IT software related to reporting and dispatch of linen produced e.g. Benchmarker, Microsoft office packages.
Analytical and judgemental skills to formulate technical solutions to improve equipment and workforce performance to achieve and maintain the agreed flow of work through the section, including managing data and information either electronically or paper based.
To provide and receive complex information requiring tact or persuasive skills; where necessary to provide and receive sensitive information. For example dealing with staffing issues to ensure continuation of production is kept to a maximum. Dealing with difficult customer conversations i.e. production delays. Shortages etc.
To work on and operate production machinery when required.
To plan and organise activities within the production areas that require formulation or adjustment to meet service needs to plan and adjust staffing levels as required.
Monitor the reporting of machine breakdowns and down times of machines.
Monitor microbiological testing of areas within their assigned section.
Assist the Laundry Management Team in the programme of training and developing staff employed on their assigned section. This will include monitoring of individual members of staff.
Industrial relations maintain a good and effective industrial relations climate with laundry management, and to lead and support any necessary change and the development of the services provided.
Provide assistance in dealing with problems or concerns of staff; or of management regarding individual sections.
Provide opportunity for the maintenance of laundry equipment to ensure its safe operation and use.
Ensure that good housekeeping is adhered to, ensuring a safe and clean working environment.
Ensure that all Health & Safety and other statutory regulations are understood and met.
To ensure all statutory requirements are met and to advise the Laundry Management Team of areas of concern and assist in deciding upon the programmes to be developed to meet the department obligations.
The post holder will be required to undertake any other relevant duties as required by the Laundry Management Team. The post holder will sometimes be required to work across different Laundry Services sites.
Ensuring the implementation and knowledge of NWSSP Policies and Procedures.
Maintain knowledge of developments within the service and the equipment used.
Ensure that safe working practices are adhered to.
Knowledge of appropriate emergency procedures.
Ensure understanding and implementation of correct use of manual handling procedures/methods.
Understand and ensure the implementation of Health & Safety COSSH regulations in respect of chemicals / substances used.
Undertake on-going training as per the requirements of the post, as identified by the Laundry Management Team.
Where necessary to assist/undertake surveys and stock audits.
