The successful candidate will play a key role in the continued development of the Interventional Radiology service, demonstrating a strong commitment to quality improvement, clinical governance, and service innovation. You will provide visible leadership to the nursing team, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred care while maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice.
This is a full time combined clinical and managerial role and includes participation in the Interventional Radiology nursing on-call rota.
Provisional interview date: Tuesday 24th November 2026 (in person).
A visit to the department prior to interview is highly recommended.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide operational and professional leadership within the Interventional Radiology department, supporting the effective day-to-day management of the service and nursing workforce. Responsibilities will include workforce planning, staff rostering, annual leave management, sickness absence management, recruitment, performance management, and the training and development of staff.
You will oversee the coordination and delivery of care for patients undergoing Interventional Radiology procedures, ensuring a seamless patient journey and maintaining high standards of safety, quality and patient experience. The role will also involve supporting and developing junior staff, promoting a positive learning environment, and ensuring the efficient organisation of departmental activities.

Clinically, the successful candidate will be expected to work as a senior practitioner within the IR team, providing expert nursing care throughout the patient pathway. This includes pre-procedure assessment, post-procedure recovery, and supporting procedures within the theatre environment through patient monitoring and scrub/assisting duties as required.
The Unit Coordinator Manager will work closely with wider multidisciplinary colleagues, providing leadership, guidance and support to ensure services are delivered effectively, efficiently and in line with organisational objectives.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a senior nurse who is passionate about leadership, service improvement and delivering outstanding patient care within a highly specialised area of practice.
