Job overview

We are seeking an Information Officer to join our pivotal Information Management and Performance Team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy team supporting the continuous improvement and performance management of East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.

You should have an open and inquisitive mind and be prepared to question and investigate data anomalies. The applicant must have excellent analytical and Excel skills (including the use of pivot tables and advanced formulas) and must be able to manipulate large data sets to produce informative, timely and accurate reports to monitor operational trends and performance. The ability to query multiple tables using SQL would be advantageous.

You should have excellent communication skills and feel confident presenting and explaining outputs to a range of different end users.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Producing performance and quality reports from multiple data sources
  • Running and maintaining routine reports
  • Supporting the wider team with ad-hoc data requests

It is essential the successful candidate lives within commutable distance to the Conquest Hospital.

  • Methodical and professional manner, with ability to pay attention to detail for recording of accurate auditable data.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to work on own initiative without direct supervision

Experience

Essential

  • Significant amount of experience in a relevant NHS administration / IT post or similar organisation
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite and internet tools
  • Evidence of experience of accurate data inputting onto and extracting, interpreting and reporting data from databases
  • Awareness of confidentiality issues
  • Experience of managing own workload, working efficiently under stressful conditions and prioritising effectively to meet tight deadlines
  • Proven IT Skills in Microsoft applications including spreadsheets & data analysis
  • Experience of using specialist IT systems

Desirable

  • Previous substantial experience in a similar role in the NHS
  • An understanding of the Data protection Act 1998 and the Caldicott Report

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to GCSE level with passes in English & Maths
  • NVQ 3 administration or proven equivalent experience and knowledge
  • Evidence of continued professional development to diploma level or equivalent amount of experience and knowledge

Desirable

  • Recognised computing qualification (eg ECDL advanced)
  • Trained on OASIS and other NHS IT Systems
