Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Registered Nurse to join the Infection Prevention and Control Team at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust.
This is a varied and specialist role supporting the delivery of the Trusts infection prevention and control agenda, with a focus on reducing healthcare-associated infections and promoting safe and effective practice. You will work both autonomously and collaboratively as part of the wider Infection Prevention and Control Team, providing specialist advice, education and support to staff across the Trust.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication and organisational skills who can work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team. You will need to be adaptable, able to prioritise competing demands and confident in engaging and influencing others.
The post requires working across Trust locations and participating in weekend working or the Infection Prevention and Control weekend on-call arrangements as required by the service.
We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of applications. We therefore encourage interested candidates to apply as soon as possible.
Please refer to the attached job description and person specification for further details.
Main duties of the job
The role includes assessing and managing infection risks, interpreting microbiological information, supporting surveillance and audit, and advising clinical teams on appropriate infection prevention and control measures. You will work across professional and organisational boundaries and contribute to the development and review of policies, procedures and standards.
Education is an important part of the role. You will support the development and delivery of learning opportunities for staff, using a range of teaching approaches to help translate infection prevention and control principles into clinical practice. You will also contribute to surveillance, audit and the interpretation and dissemination of findings to support improvements in patient safety and clinical practice.
You will:
- Provide infection prevention and control advice and guidance to staff, patients, relatives and others, incorporating relevant national and local guidance.
- Assess and manage infection risks associated with patients, staff, equipment and the healthcare environment, recommending appropriate control measures.
- Interpret microbiological information and assess its clinical relevance to support the prevention and control of infection.
