Main duties of the job
You will lead a portfolio of transformation and service development projects across the Public Health Nursing portfolio, managing multiple workstreams from planning through to implementation and evaluation.
Working with operational, clinical and corporate colleagues, you will coordinate programme governance, monitor progress, manage risks and dependencies, and provide assurance on delivery. You will analyse complex information to inform decision-making, prepare reports and business cases, and support delivery of commissioned priorities and quality improvement initiatives.
The role requires close collaboration with commissioners, local authority partners and other stakeholders to embed sustainable change and improve services for children, young people and families.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Leading complex Public Health Nursing transformation programmes from initiation through to implementation and benefits realisation.
- Developing and maintaining comprehensive programme plans, milestones, governance documentation, risk registers, dependency logs and benefits tracking.
- Coordinating multiple workstreams across operational, clinical and corporate teams, ensuring delivery remains aligned to agreed objectives, timescales and available resources.
- Supporting mobilisation of new commissioned services, service redesign and implementation of national policy and best practice.
- Establishing effective programme governance arrangements, preparing reports and presenting progress, risks and recommendations to senior leadership groups.
- Monitoring delivery against programme milestones, identifying risks and implementing mitigating actions where required.
- Working collaboratively with operational leads to embed sustainable service improvements and support delivery of commissioned activity and quality standards.

Qualifications
Essential
- MSc degree or equivalent knowledge
- Recognised programme or project management qualification (PRINCE2 Practitioner, MSP, Agile or equivalent) or equivalent experience.
Skills and Abilities

- Excellent programme and project management skills.
- Ability to analyse, interpret and communicate highly complex information.
Experience and Knowledge
Essential
- Significant experience of managing complex programmes or projects within the NHS or comparable public sector organisation.
- Experience of leading service transformation and change programmes involving multiple stakeholders.
- Understanding of Public Health Nursing services and the Healthy Child Programme.
