Ward 36 ,renal ward in Manchester royal infirmary is looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Housekeeper to join our team. This is a full time position to help support the department with house keeping duties.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join Ward 36 as a Housekeeper. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills and will play a key role in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the ward.
The post holder will work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team to maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, stock management, and patient environment, helping to ensure a safe and welcoming setting for patients, visitors, and staff.
As a housekeeper, you will lead the Unit services such as catering, cleaning, equipment and suppliesand audits . The work can include but not limited to:
- talking to and reassuring patients
- ordering non-clinical supplies
- keeping the Unit clean and tidy
- preparing snacks and drinks
- reporting faults and expiration dates of equipment
Main duties of the job
Manchester Royal infirmary at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is the leading Trust for teaching, research and specialist services in the North West of England.
We are seeking a motivated and committed Housekeeper to join our team. You will be working 37.5 hours per week.
This is an exciting and pivotal role in which you will work closely with the nursing and domestic staff to ensure a safe, clean and organised clinical environment.
You will take responsibility for ensuring that all medical equipment is clean and well maintained. You will undertake the ordering of stores and equipment on the ward, excellent computer skills are essential for this role. You will be responsible for assisting with obtaining feedback from our patients by using the What Matters To Me tracker and friend and family test. You will also be assisting the team in continuous quality improvement work.
You must be able to empathise with and consider patients as you go about your duties, you will have an organised and positive approach to ensure the tasks at hand are carried out in a timely, effective manner. Able to cope well under pressure, you will utilise excellent communication and team skills.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check

What is a DBS Check?
A DBS check is a background check that reveals any criminal convictions, cautions, reprimands, or warnings. The level of check required depends on the role:
Standard DBS: Checks for spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings.
Enhanced DBS: Includes the above, plus any additional information held by local police that’s considered relevant to the role.
Enhanced with Barred Lists: Includes all of the above, plus checks against the children’s and/or adults’ barred lists.
Who Needs a DBS Check

The Costs for a DBS
At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy. This means that the cost of submitting and processing a DBS application if you are successful and join us, will be deducted from your salary within the first three months of employment. If, however, you withdraw from a conditional offer after the DBS process has begun, you will still be liable for the cost incurred.
