Main duties of the job
The Hospital Director will chair the Clinical Change Group and report progress to the UEC Programme Board.
The role will strengthen working between Corporate Medical, Operational and Divisional teams, supporting safe, effective and sustainable clinical pathways.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Provide visible, credible clinical leadership for pathway redesign and service improvement.
- Work with senior medical and clinical leaders to support joined-up, patient-centred care across service boundaries.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional excellence.
- Ensure improvement work maintains a clear focus on patient safety, clinical quality, access and experience.
- Oversee delivery of the UEC Improvement and Stabilisation Plan and Rapid Release Protocol.
- Provide assurance on improvement work across Divisions and Health Board sites.
- Identify and escalate risks, ensuring actions are agreed and monitored.
- Maintain clear accountability for delivery, escalation and assurance.
- Demonstrate exemplary professionalism in communication with clinical teams, ensuring clarity, respect and credibility in all interactions.
- Provide constructive challenge and professional advice.
- Ensure improvement work supports quality, safety, value and financial sustainability.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
