An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join the Stroke Speech and Language Therapy Team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

We are looking for a clinician who is passionate about improving outcomes for people with stroke,  who wants to develop advanced clinical skills to deliver expert assessment and intervention for communication and swallowing disorders.  Alongside delivering evidence-based care in acute  and rehabilitation settings, the successful candidate will contribute to  supporting staff, service improvement and innovation.

You will be working with other Band 7 SLTs in the Stroke team, as well as junior colleagues and assistants. You will be part of a large dynamic SLT service, with opportunities for peer supervision and collaborate with other SLTs at NUH. The Stroke service operates across City and QMC campuses. There is access to FEES and videofluoroscopy with opportunities for training and development of your clinical and leadership skills.

This is a full time post but we would consider part time requests. There may be a requirement to work on the weekend and bank holidays as part of a rota.

The post holder will contribute to a specialist clinical service and provide high quality Speech and Language Therapy intervention to patients who have had a stroke. We are looking for someone with advanced clinical reasoning, critical thinking and reflection skills.   There is close working with the clinical MDT for co-ordinated and integrated clinical care.  The post-holder will also work with the MDT for service development, service evaluation and governance.

The post holder will have proven knowledge, skills and experience working in Stroke and or neuro rehabilitation. They will be providing in-depth assessment and intensive therapy.  The post holder will have advanced skills in working with communication and dysphagia, ideally with experience of instrumental assessments.

Service delivery

To work autonomously to provide a coordinated and highly specialist service to designated specialism within a multi-disciplinary/multi-agency context  and inform and advise the service leads as to training, resources, trends and development needs

To work collaboratively with a variety of different agencies/professionals ensuring management and treatment meets the holistic needs, providing  a well co-ordinated care plan for specialism/setting

To represent the Speech and Language Therapy service at agreed forums

To represent speech, language and communication and/or dysphagia needs at agreed forums

To participate in multi- disciplinary projects as agreed.

Clinical Practice

To independently manage, triage and prioritise own complex caseload providing a highly specialist SLT assessment, formulation, diagnosis, intervention and advice based on evidence based practice

The post requires

Recognised Speech & Language Therapy Degree

HCPC and RCSLT registration

Evidence of appropriate CPD post qualifying.

Excellent IT skill

Fully driving licence and access to your own vehicle
