Post: 0.28WTE Band 8A Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical/Counselling/Health) in Heart/Lung Transplant - Maternity leave cover
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic HCPC registered practitioner psychologist to work as part of our Transplant Psychology team. You will be delivering high quality psychological care for the patients of the Heart / Lung Transplant Unit, Wythenshawe Hospital. This will involve direct clinical work with inpatients in cardiothoracic critical care and our transplant Jim Quick ward. The outpatient aspects of the role will include virtual and in person clinics. The role will also involve indirect work, offering consultation to the multidisciplinary surgery team. Supervision from will be provided from a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, as well as peer supervision with a fellow 8A Clinical Psychologist.
We welcome interest from candidates who are soon to qualify/recently qualified. If successful, they would be appointed at Band 7 and supported to develop towards Band 8a.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will join an established psychology service within Transplant Surgery where they will provide high quality and evidence-based psychological care at Wythenshawe Hospital (MFT). They will aim to support the ongoing improvement of psychological care provided for (adult) patients, families and carers, under the care of the Transplant Surgery MDT. The post holder will carry an appropriate clinical caseload, as well as offering expert consultation and teaching/training/supervision to other members of the wider Multidisciplinary team working in Transplant Surgery.
You will have the opportunity to get involved with relevant projects e.g. groups/training etc. Opportunities to participate in service development will be available, as well as ensuring key performance targets are achieved.
The post holder will be expected to be ward based for at least half of the working week, as a core member of the Transplant surgery multi-disciplinary team.
