The Fife Area-Wide Psychology Service is a large (100 + wte) service comprising a range of clinical and health specialties, with extensive involvement in training, research and service development. This post is part of the Child and Family specialty team which consists of 20 clinical psychologists, 6 Clinical Associates and several assistants and trainees.

We have a permanent vacancy for an experienced Clinical Psychologist to work in a highly specialist, well established, therapeutic service for care experienced children and young people. You will work alongside psychology, psychotherapy, and social work, providing assessment and treatment for children and young people who have experienced complex trauma and psychological difficulties. This is a jointly managed Therapeutic Project by a social work team manager and Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist/Clinical Lead. The post is line managed within Child and Family Psychology, but you will be embedded in the Springfield Project.

Springfield Project is multi agency therapeutic service for children and young people who are experiencing care in Fife Council foster / residential placements. Springfield provides services including direct assessment and therapeutic intervention, alongside support and training for the care network, with the aim of building a shared understanding of the impact of trauma. We then agree supports to enable the child's recovery and developmental progress. A core aim is the building of positive, trusting relationships with their primary carers and others, for children to grow and flourish. In addition to individual clinical support and assessment, the role involves facilitating meetings with the Team around the Child and the child’s carer(s). All cases are held by two professionals within the team. The role will also involve in reach to residential care settings to provide consultation and training to residential care staff.

You will also take an active part in the Area Psychology Service, seeking opportunities for research, professional development and contributing to that of others. The department has close links with Edinburgh, Stirling, Dundee and St. Andrews Universities, D. Clin.Psych and MSc courses. Your professional development, CPD and research initiatives will be well supported.

The post is based at Playfield House, Stratheden Hospital, Cupar.
