A fantastic opportunity has arisen across our Schools Speech and Language Therapy Teams. The team is part of the wider Community Paediatric SLT and Children's Therapies team. This is a supportive and dynamic team with many professional development opportunities.

  • Knowledge and/or experience of working with, a diverse paediatric caseload
  • Experience working with parents of young children
  • Experience of supporting the evaluation of service delivery
  • Experience in delivering universal and / or targeted level offers to mainstream schools
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-agency team
  • Ability to work flexibly and independently where necessary
  • Enthusiasm, imagination, and initiative
  • Understanding of the neurodiversity framework

The role will encompass supervision and and support of junior speech and language therapists as well as speech and language therapy assistants. The post holder will also support the development and evaluation of service delivery.

Main duties of the job

Within this role you will:

  • Take a leadership role to continue to develop our service for children with language disorders
  • Supervise junior staff including newly qualified Speech and Language Therapists (SLT)
  • Support the evaluation and quality improvement of the SLT service with the support of the clinical team leads
  • Be able to manage a diverse and varied paediatric caseload of children who are in schools and resource bases
  • Develop your leadership and management skills within the Mainstream Primary Schools SLT including service development

Essential

  • Relevant specialist experience post qualification working as a Speech and Language Therapist
  • Experience of operational caseload management for children with an SLCN
  • Experience in assessment and intervention of children aged 4-18 years
  • Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of service improvement projects

Desirable

  • Experience working with assistants

Qualifications

Essential

  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree qualification or equivalent
  • Health Professions Council – License to Practice
  • Registered Member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists

Desirable

  • ADOS competencies
