The successful applicant will work as part of a large multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of care and treatment for children and young people.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new Occupational Therapy Team within Ty Llidiard - ensuring the delivery of an evidence-based, occupationally focussed specialist assessment and intervention service. The team comprises of a Band 7 Lead Occupational Therapist, this position, and two part-time Band 4 Assistant Occupational Therapy Practitioners.

If you are motivated, dynamic, inspirational, suitably qualified and are passionate about working with young people experiencing a range of mental health issues, we welcome your application.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of a highly skilled MDT working along side a range of therapists and medical professionals. You will be supporting individuals in their recovery – working collaboratively with service users to achieve optimum levels of occupational performance and occupational balance in lifestyle management, motivation, interpersonal skills, cognitive skills, self-care, productivity (education, training or employment) and leisure areas.

There is scope to facilitate environmental and sensory adaptation strategies, supporting inclusion and engagement in these areas.

The post holder will ensure the delivery of evidence-based assessments and interventions. Assessment outcomes will inform appropriate intervention plans, identify strengths and adaptive strategies, support recovery, facilitate early discharge and identify post-discharge support needs. Interventions will be through 1:1 sessions and group work on the unit and within the community.

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable at Level 3 Speaking/Listening (or ‘B1’ Level if you’ve learnt Welsh as an adult). This doesn’t mean you have to be fluent or able to write long reports in Welsh; it just means being able to hold simple conversations with patients.
