Applications are invited for the role of interim medical director North Middlesex University Hospital and community services. This is a fixed-term appointment for an initial period of six months, with the possibility of extension depending on progress with recruitment to the permanent post.

Main duties of the job

Reporting to the health unit chief executive, with professional accountability to the chief medical officer, the post holder is responsible for leading the transformation of the health unit to deliver high quality and efficient clinical care in support of the Royal Free London (RFL)’s governing objectives and the RFL clinical strategy.  The medical director provides professional leadership to the medical staff in the health unit.

As well as the leadership role within the health unit, the medical director will contribute to the management and engagement of relevant external stakeholder relationships.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the NHS, politically astute and able to identify and work with key influencers to deliver the range of acute healthcare services.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the Trust’s strategic objectives, financial and management challenges and requirements

Experience

Essential

  • Previous medical leadership role in a complex Acute, NHS organization
  • A track record of successes in delivering against national and local targets.
  • Evidence of successfully leading and motivating a team

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Ability to communication vision and lead change effectively.
  • Evidence of holding to a clear strategy and set of values while responding appropriately to short-term challenges and priorities
  • Track record of capability in analysing and designing innovate solutions to complex, multi-faceted problems.
