Opportunities have arisen in the Medical Record Departments at University Hospital Bristol and Weston NHS Trust.

We are currently looking to recruit staff to work in both Bristol and Weston so please indicate which site you are interested in.

We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our busy medical records department.

The hours of work are Monday to Friday between 0700 and 1700, and negotiable with the successful applicant.

This Job is not entirely desk based and is quite physical, as the position requires you to be adaptable as the role encompasses various tasks that are physically demanding, including handling large volumes of patient medical records as well as retrieving and delivery of patient casenotes across the Trust.

Previous clerical experience and knowledge of filing systems is not essential as full training of the system will be given.

Your application should detail how you are an organised team player who can also work independently. This role requires you to self-manage in a team environment and work to daily deadlines.

Main duties of the job

To ensure the patient notes are available where they are needed to support patient care. The post holder will be responsible for retrieving case notes, which may be stored in the library or other locations within the hospital/trust. Collating, organising, scanning and quality checking case notes in readiness for future outpatient attendances and inpatient stays. The images will then form part of the patients Electronic Patient Record.

Essential

  • Flexible attitude to ensure that optimum support is offered to the Service Leads in delivering services to patients is essential
  • The ability to respect the Trusts’ Values

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Excellent written English skills including keen attention to spelling and grammar
  • Excellent customer service skills for both internal and external users
  • Computer literate and excellent keyboard skills
  • To manage effectively your own time and workload, so that both the service and staff do not suffer
  • Ability to communicate throughout the Trust using a varied of media ie; telephone and email as well as face to face
  • Communicate with external agencies such as GP surgeries, other NHS trusts

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 2 years clerical experience
  • Proven team worker
  • Working in a busy environment

Desirable

  • Knowledge of filing systems

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Good standard of general education with particular strengths in English Language
