The Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker will work as part of the Dermatology team, supporting nurses and clinicians in the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Duties include assisting with clinics and procedures, supporting patient flow, maintaining clinical areas and equipment, and providing compassionate care to patients attending the service.
The post holder will contribute to a safe, efficient, and patient-focused environment while working under the supervision of registered healthcare professionals.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties of the Job – Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker
- Support patients and provide high-quality care within outpatient clinics.
- Assist nurses and clinicians with clinical procedures and examinations.
- Record baseline observations, blood glucose monitoring, urinalysis, and BMI measurements.
- Act as a chaperone and advocate for patients during consultations and procedures.
- Maintain stock levels and ensure clinical areas are clean, tidy, and well-equipped.
- Clean, maintain, and safely store clinical equipment, reporting any faults as required.
- Support infection prevention and control by preparing and cleaning patient areas.
- Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Use Trust IT systems to support patient administration, admissions, discharges, and clinical documentation.
- Participate in mandatory training, appraisal, and ongoing professional development.
- Support and assist new members of staff within the department.
- Escalate concerns and seek assistance promptly to ensure patient safety and high standards of care.
