An exciting opportunity exists for a talented informatics leader to contribute to the continued development of our Informatics service. This key role, within a dynamic and expanding team, will be responsible for developing and enhancing the analysis service, to continue to meet the needs of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Foundation Trust.
Working closely with both clinical services and Informatics colleagues, the successful candidate will bring excellent technical and analytical skills, and knowledge and experience of using data and information to understand and support clinical services.
In return, this challenging post will allow the successful applicant to play a crucial role in developing the performance and analysis service within the trust. There will be chances to develop new skills and knowledge through training, and also offer the opportunity to be a part of many exciting and challenging projects currently being undertaken at the Trust.

Main duties of the job
- Lead the management, development, and ongoing support of the Trust’s data warehouse and wider information management arrangements, acting as the subject matter expert on business intelligence.
- Provide technical authority and leadership for the business intelligence function, supporting digital change initiatives and delivering information management training across the department and Trust.
- Design and implement informatics solutions to ensure the Trust meets national, commissioning, and local reporting requirements, supporting a comprehensive performance management framework.
- Deliver a robust technical environment that enables the Trust and its partners to use assured and reliable information for service change, efficiency, and continuous improvement in patient care.
- Oversee the development of self-serve data reporting tools, enabling colleagues to access key performance indicators, capacity and demand activity, and data quality metrics.
- Ensure all data management and reporting activities comply with Information Governance, data protection, and NHS standards.

The Head of Data is a pivotal leadership role within the Information and Performance department, responsible for ensuring the Trust excels as a data-driven organisation. The post holder will:
- Oversee day-to-day management of the CPFT data warehouse, including data extraction, transformation, and loading from diverse sources, while maintaining robust security and data integrity.
- Lead the development of the data warehouse in line with the Data, Digital and Technology Strategy, integrating new data sources and advancing analytical capabilities, including the adoption of emerging technologies such as cloud solutions and artificial intelligence.
- Provide assurance on data quality, manage change control, and support audit and security testing.
- Develop and quality assure applications for data integration, using the most appropriate tools available.
- Collaborate closely with clinical leaders and other departments to identify development opportunities and provide technical leadership on solutions.
- Produce and deliver transparent, consistent reporting outputs, from simple extracts to complex analyses and visualisations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Manage and develop the business intelligence team, including recruitment, training, performance management, and fostering a customer-focused, collaborative culture.
- Support research initiatives, service evaluation, and the implementation of best practices, keeping abreast of national developments and policies.
- Ensure all activities are conducted in line with Trust values, policies, and the highest standards of confidentiality, equality, and diversity.

Experience
Essential
- Significant post-qualification experience working in a large multi-disciplinary organisation, leading information development
- Proven experience of enterprise architecture and database / data warehouse modelling, design and development
Skills & Abilities
Essential
- Microsoft Azure with SQL Server range of technologies (SSMS/SSIS/SSRS/SSAS)
- PowerBI administration, configuration and design at enterprise level
- Attention to detail in all aspects of work
Education/Qualifications
Essential
- Degree in IT or numeric subject
- Post graduate evidence of further study in informatics or analytics areas, or equivalent relevant experience
- Evidence of continuous professional development
Desirable
- Project management qualification
Knowledge & Understanding
Essential
- Knowledge of key NHS performance requirements, including MHSDS and CSDS, and how these are represented in relevant systems
- In-depth knowledge of SQL Server database administration and associated technologies
