An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic, highly motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Haemoglobinopathy team, within Haematology at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. The role will involve a blended approach to working across inpatient, outpatient and community care settings.
We are seeking an experienced and caring individual with a genuine interest in Hemoglobinopathy to work within the team. The post holder must be able to drive and have access to their own vehicle for work purposes.
The post holder will operate as an independent practitioner/clinical expert with in-depth knowledge and experience of haemoglobinopathy.
Candidates will have extensive experience of health care governance, education and development, audit and incident investigation. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in Trust wide and Regional safety initiatives and improvement projects relating to Haemoglobinopathy.
Main duties of the job
This role involves working as a Nurse Specialist across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings, providing seamless, patient-centred care throughout the healthcare pathway.
The postholder will assess, plan, and deliver specialist care to patients during hospital admissions, outpatient appointments, and within community bases.
The role requires strong clinical expertise, effective communication, working effectively as part of the MDT and the ability to coordinate care across services to ensure continuity, improve outcomes, reduce inpatient stays, support discharge from hospital and support patients in managing their condition across different care environments.

Essential
- Post registration experience in the speciality at Band 5 level
- Evidence of teaching and assessing and commitment to professional development.
- Ability to work independently and autonomously, as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent organisational, time management and communication skills.
- Experience in health promotion
Desirable
- Experience working in a primary/community nursing setting

- Understanding of treatments accessed by Haemoglobinopathy patients.

- Commitment to equal opportunities and can demonstrate knowledge of the national and local equity and diversity agenda
- Valid full UK driving licence and access to a car to travel within the required geographical radius
- Advanced IT skills across multiple health-based systems
Education and Qualifications
Essential
- RGN- Adult
- NMC registered
- Professional knowledge acquired through Degree
- Achieve and maintain the identified specialist competencies of a CNS in the Haemoglobinopathy Service through training, IPR and Professional Development Planning
- To have completed the national practice assessor training or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998
- Evidence of continued Professional Development

- Non-medical prescriber (or willingness to undertake)
