This role leads on the development and delivery of the Group’s Health & Wellbeing offer and the programme work designed to ensure GESH continues to prioritise and improve the health and wellbeing of our staff. This role will shape and drive the long-term health and wellbeing strategic plan aligning the offer across the group and ensuring it is delivering on the goals of the People Strategy, organisation’s workforce priorities, and national NHS objectives.
The post holder will work with senior colleagues to specify, design, deliver and evaluate bespoke health promotion and organisational development interventions to respond to people and cultural issues that influence health and wellbeing, identified through a range of available data and key performance metrics such as the NHS Staff survey.
Main duties of the job
- Develop a strong health and wellbeing brand and innovative marketing strategies to promote the programme and general health promotion messages both internally and externally. Deliver interventions with the scale and impact to create a positive culture of health and wellbeing within the organisation, where (i) managers take an active role in understanding the needs of their staff and in supporting them to maintain good health; and (ii) individuals are empowered to strengthen their own health and wellbeing.
- Operate as an internal expert and consultant on wellbeing and to lead and collaborate on programmes of work to provide individual and team specific interventions that improve wellbeing, effectiveness, culture and performance, based on diagnostics using quantitative and qualitative data and information.
- Work in partnership with key stakeholders to understand shared priorities and develop joint objectives, specifically in relation to health and wellbeing, and areas that influence it directly and indirectly. Ensure the engagement and involvement of a wide range of internal staff and external stakeholders/experts in the production and implementation of staff wellbeing priorities and solutions. ***Please refer to Attached Job Description for further information**

The effectiveness of our Health and Wellbeing offer is vital to achieving our CARE Strategy and positively improving our staff engagement. Specifically, the post holder will define our strategic and prioritised approach to improving staff health and wellbeing and be responsible for putting in place a wide range of supportive options in order to promote and deliver these objectives. In addition to a strong and responsive offer, the post holder will proactively research systemic barriers to wellbeing in our current practice and work with stakeholders to address them and implement improvements. The post holder will support and guide Directors, Clinicians and Managers at all levels of the organisation to develop strategic, tactical and operational health and wellbeing interventions to achieve positive results. This will contribute to a high performing culture where everyone recognises the importance of health and wellbeing and knows how to maximise their own and their teams to deliver great engagement and high-quality healthcare to our patients.

Knowledge
Essential
- Extensive experience of delivering evidence based health behaviour change, designing appropriate interventions, and how these can be applied to the NHS clinical and non-clinical staff workforce.
- Track record of delivering change programmes in complex and large organisations, demonstrating impactful and sustainable change.
Education and Qualifications
Essential
- Evidence of continued learning / professional development in the area of health and wellbeing and/or health promotion and/or facilitating health behaviour change in individuals/populations.
Desirable
- A relevant qualification such as a Masters Health Promotion, Psychology, Nursing, Organisational Development or equivalent relevant experience at strategic leadership level.
