Main duties of the job

As a Governance and Compliance Manager at Elysium Healthcare, you will lead efforts to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe care through strong governance and compliance leadership. You will manage systems and processes related to quality, safety, and regulatory compliance across the hospital. In this critical role, you will coordinate activities, drive compliance efforts, hold teams accountable, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Responsibilities include leading internal compliance inspections, overseeing CQUIN delivery, managing CQC submissions, and compliance monitoring. You will also take charge of Clinical Governance framework operations, ensuring the effectiveness of monthly meetings, producing and reviewing high-quality reports, and following through on actions from governance forums. Additionally, you will manage incident reporting processes and serve as a liaison between internal teams and external stakeholders for governance reporting.

What you will be doing:

You’ll lead on governance and compliance activity across the hospital, ensuring standards are consistently met, risks are managed, and improvements are embedded.

Compliance Leadership

  • Lead and coordinate internal compliance inspections, ensuring readiness and accountability across services
  • Oversee CQUIN delivery, tracking performance, challenging progress, and ensuring reporting requirements are met
  • Take ownership of CQC preparation, submissions, and post-inspection action plans, driving timely completion
  • Monitor appraisal and supervision compliance, escalating gaps and holding managers accountable

Governance Management

  • Own the Clinical Governance framework, leading the coordination and effectiveness of monthly meetings
  • Ensure high-quality reporting is produced, reviewed, and acted upon across Quality, KPIs, Complaints, and workforce metrics
  • Present governance insights, highlighting risks, trends, and areas for improvement
  • Ensure actions from governance forums are followed through and delivered

Reporting & Regulatory Assurance

  • Take responsibility for the accuracy and timely submission of CQC notifications and NHS England reports
  • Oversee incident reporting processes, ensuring Serious Incidents and safeguarding alerts are managed appropriately and escalated where required
  • Act as a key link between internal teams and external stakeholders in relation to governance reporting

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead on the use of dashboards and data to monitor performance, identify risks, and drive improvements
  • Provide guidance and challenge to teams on quality metrics and performance standards
  • Oversee Ward Quality Accounts, ensuring compliance and high-quality submissions
  • Manage Quality Network Reviews, coordinating preparation, self-assessment, and follow-up actions
  • Support clinical leaders in audit programmes, ensuring delivery, quality, and timeliness
  • Carry out audits and spot checks to provide assurance and insight

Policies & Frameworks

  • Take ownership of the policy management process, ensuring reviews are planned, completed, and compliant
  • Maintain oversight of the policy register and ensure governance frameworks remain robust and up to date
