Job summary

We are looking to recruit a First Contact Physiotherapist to join our established and experienced team in Liverpool. This is a part-time role, initially 1 day per week but this is likely to be increased and there may be the opportunity to work additional days in the local area. Main duties of the job

As a First Contact Physiotherapist, you will work onsite within GP practices as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team. You will assess, diagnose, and manage MSK patients at the first point of contact, working with full autonomy and strong clinical support.

Please note that this is not a hybrid or remote role. You will be embedded within your allocated practices, collaborating closely with GPs, reception teams, nurses, and wider MDT colleagues to deliver integrated, personalised patient care.

You will have the opportunity to use or develop advanced skills, including injection therapy and independent prescribing, supported by protected CPD time and structured supervision.

Job responsibilities

Clinical Practice

  • Independently assess, diagnose, and manage MSK presentations including complex cases
  • Request investigations (e.g. imaging, blood tests) and make appropriate referrals
  • Create tailored self-management plans to support behavioural change and recovery
  • Use full scope of practice - including prescribing and injection therapy (if qualified)
  • Record utilisation data daily and collect Patient Satisfaction Questionnaires (PSQs)

Collaboration & Development

  • Work as part of a GP-based MDT and build positive relationships with practice staff
  • Educate colleagues on MSK triage pathways and provide informal guidance
  • Support clinical audits and service improvement initiatives
  • Help shape and refine local MSK care pathways

Leadership & Learning

  • Engage in supervision and peer reflection sessions
  • Continue your development against the HEE Roadmap to Practice
  • Contribute to clinical governance and mentoring where appropriate
