Job summary

Finance Business Partner

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to support the organisation's financial planning, performance and strategic development. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the post holder will play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and business decision-making, working closely with directors, senior managers and budget holders across the organisation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and coordinating the annual budgeting process.
  • Developing financial models, forecasts and costing information for new business opportunities and service developments.
  • Producing, analysing and presenting management information to directors and managers.
  • Supporting the preparation of management accounts and annual audit requirements.
  • Maintaining and improving financial reporting and forecasting tools.
  • Building strong relationships with managers and stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Deputising for the Financial Controller and Director of Finance when required.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys partnering with non-finance colleagues, influencing decision-making and supporting organisational growth through high-quality financial expertise.

Main duties of the job

You are an enthusiastic and proactive finance professional who enjoys building strong relationships and working collaboratively with managers and stakeholders to support informed decision-making. You are confident communicating financial information to both finance and non-finance colleagues and are able to provide clear, practical advice in a fast-paced environment.

With excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, you can manage competing priorities, work independently and consistently deliver high-quality outputs to demanding timescales. You will be committed to continuous improvement and motivated to identify opportunities to enhance financial processes, reporting and business performance.

Most importantly, you will share our commitment to delivering high-quality services and will be keen to use your financial expertise to make a positive contribution to the organisation and the communities we serve.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be working towards, or hold, a recognised CCAB accountancy qualification.
  • Have experience in management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
  • Demonstrate advanced Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet modelling skills.
  • Possess excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
  • Have strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.

Desirable experience includes:

  • Sage accounting software.
  • Power BI reporting and analytics.
  • NHS finance systems.
  • NHS pensions knowledge.
