An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Cancer Support Services Team to support the FIT Pathway for patients within the Lower Gastrointestinal service at BTHFT.
The FIT pathway Navigator role will work across the healthcare system providing comprehensive support to pathology, primary care and endoscopy through co-ordination of FIT referrals, logistics of FIT pack distribution, monitoring of FIT pack supplies and supporting patients and GP’s throughout the diagnostic pathway. It will require the post holder to adapt to support the pathway as it continues to evolve over time.
You will require experience of working in a customer/patient-focused environment, excellent communication, good organisation and interpersonal skills and have the necessary confidence and competence to work with a wide range of professional staff, internal departments and external organisations. Flexibility and aptitude to work in a fast paced department is important.
The successful applicants will have experience of data inputting using Patient Information Management systems (EPR, PAS, PPM or alternative) and have an understanding of information governance.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will work across primary care, and endoscopy to support the FIT testing pathway.
The post holder will ensure GP requests for FIT tests are actioned on a daily basis, to oversee the co-ordination and distribution of FIT packs across primary care, communicate with GP surgeries and external providers, about FIT pack stocks and distribution, and to monitor FIT pack stock centrally within Bradford and across Bradford GP surgeries.
The post holder will provide safety netting for primary care by being the main point of contact for GP’s and practice staff relating to FIT testing. They will support primary care in the follow-up of non-returned FIT tests by liaising with GP’s and supporting patients to complete the test.
The post holder will work with the Endoscopy and Cancer Team ensuring patients with positive FIT test results are escalated onto the 62 day cancer pathway.
The post holder will work both directly and indirectly with patients and their carers using a range of IT systems to assist in coordinating the care of patients through their hospital journey.
The post holder will coordinate appropriate services to maximise the delivery of streamlined diagnostic pathways, thereby improving quality of care and experience for patients and their carers.
The postholder may also be expected to support other services if required.

Experience
Essential
- Experience of delivering training, either on a one to one basis or in a classroom/office environment
- Previous NHS experience using administrative /clerical and clinical systems
- Relevant administrative /clerical experience in the NHS
- Experience of planning and organising work allocation/delegation to team member to deliver a high quality performance within policy and service timescales
Desirable
- Experience of assessment & training needs analysis skills
- Experience of administering and invigilating in formal examination conditions
- Relevant experience managing patient pathways in accordance with cancer waiting time guidelines
- Participate in staff recruitment and selection for team ; training and personnel development plans
