Job summary

We are a friendly and supportive GP practice located in Central Manchester seeking a part time / full time experienced receptionist/administrative. It is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic team.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the position include answering the telephone, working at the reception front desk, managing and booking appointments, EMIS tasks, Docman scanning and attaching, handling emails, taking prescription requests, registering patients, and performing some general administrative duties. You will receive full support.

Job responsibilities

To undertake a variety of reception and administration duties to assist in the smooth running of the Practice and provide a high level of service to patients, doctors, nurses and other members of the Practice team.

Main Duties

  • Make new and follow-up patient appointments in a timely manner using the IT system (EMIS web)
  • Receive and direct patients to the correct professional or service
  • Act as chaperone
  • Contact the interpretation service for patients as required
  • Maintain accurate records of patient care in electronic format using the correct codes
  • Prepare reception area for incoming colleagues, participate hand over between shifts
  • Take telephone messages and general enquiries, direct as necessary to GP
  • Process incoming and outgoing correspondence, including managing workflow tasks
  • Manage all queries (including administrative queries) as necessary in an efficient manner
  • Input data into the patient's healthcare records as necessary
  • Support the team in the effective use of searches, audits and recalls
  • Be aware of confidentiality and offer patients the opportunity to go to a confidentiality booth if they are distressed or imparting sensitive information

General

  • Observe health and safety guidelines at all times
  • Participate in any training programme implemented by the Practice
  • Any other reasonable duties as necessary

  • Experience of working in a GP practice (Reception/Admin)
