Job summary

We are looking for an EPR Systems Support Administrator to play a key role in developing and maintaining our Electronic Patient Record (EPR) systems. You will work closely with clinical and operational teams to provide day-to-day EPR system support and resolve user issues. You will also assist with system configuration, testing, user access management and data quality improvement.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong problem-solving skills, a customer-focused approach, and an interest in healthcare technology to work alongside NHS partners to deliver safe, effective and innovative digital solutions.

Main duties of the job

To provide effective operational support and administration for Electronic Patient Record (EPR) and related clinical systems. The postholder will provide day-to-day support to users, investigate and resolve system issues, undertake agreed configuration and testing activities, and support the safe, reliable and effective use of clinical and operational systems.

The postholder will work within established procedures and delegated responsibilities, escalating complex issues, risks and decisions where appropriate.

Job responsibilities

Provide a responsive and high-quality support service for EPR and other supported clinical systems, helping to minimise disruption to patient care and operational services.

Act as a system administrator or key user for allocated EPR modules, undertaking agreed configuration, maintenance and administrative activities in line with established procedures.

Investigate and resolve system incidents and user queries, using appropriate technical knowledge and support processes, and escalate complex or unresolved issues appropriately.

Work with clinical and non-clinical users to understand requirements and support the development of safe and effective electronic workflows within agreed configuration standards.

Identify and report potential clinical, operational, information governance and security issues associated with system changes, escalating concerns to the appropriate senior colleague.

Undertake system and configuration testing for upgrades, releases and agreed changes, recording test results, defects and actions in accordance with local procedures.

Administer user access and support Smartcard provision in accordance with Registration Authority, local security and information governance procedures.

Monitor data quality and system performance, identifying issues and working with users and colleagues to improve the accuracy, completeness and effective use of information.

Provide guidance and support to staff on EPR use, system procedures, user access and associated processes, including assisting with training and demonstrations where required.

Liaise with digital teams, project colleagues, partner organisations and third-party suppliers to progress incidents, requests and agreed changes within service requirements.

Provide day-to-day support to colleagues within the team, sharing knowledge and helping to coordinate allocated work as required.

Maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures and knowledge resources, and contribute to service improvements and project activities.

Manage allocated workload effectively, prioritising tasks in response to operational requirements and escalating competing priorities or urgent issues where appropriate.

Work flexibly and undertake other duties appropriate to the role and banding, consistent with the needs of the service.
