Endoscopy Administrator - 7 day working pattern (x2 Posts)
This is an exciting time of change for the Endoscopy Department based at King’s College Hospital, Denmark Hill site. The department has been newly renovated to include an additional procedure room and new reception facilities. This is a chance to work in a fast-paced environment, booking complex endoscopic procedures and supporting the patient pathway through to completion or their next steps.
An opportunity has arisen for a full-time Endoscopy Administrator who is a highly motivated individual with a track record of excellent customer service, appointment booking, and experience in reception or clerical processes within an operational service environment. We are looking for someone with a bubbly disposition who considers themselves a team player but can also prioritise their own work when working independently or within a team.
Effective and proactive interpersonal skills are essential, as this role will be the first point of contact for patients, whether on the phone or covering reception in the Endoscopy Department. The post holder will work closely with a wide range of multidisciplinary Trust staff and external organisations.
Main duties of the job
The Endoscopy Patient Administrator will play an active role in achieving the smooth day to day running and the booking process of the busy Endoscopy Unit.
The post holder will work closely with administrative and clinical colleagues in ensuring that all tasks follow agreed protocols and are completed to a high standard.
The post holder will be required to understand all aspects of the administration service and rotate between the different administration tasks.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To book complex endoscopic procedures according to clinical requirements.
- To answer and manage a high number of telephone enquiries.
- To deal with patient queries from stakeholders in the appropriate medical/surgical teams and provide updates as required.
- To advise on referral protocols, including the provision of referral proformas and guidance on where to send referrals.
- To undertake any other relevant duties appropriate to the grade, as required by the service.
- To follow agreed protocols and practices in all aspects of patient administration.
- To ensure all patient demographic details (address, postcode, GP, and ethnic group) are checked, and any amendments or corrections are made accurately and in a timely manner.
Person specification
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Experience of working in an administrative environment.
- Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable
- Prior experience in healthcare administration, medical office, or scheduling roles.
Education and Qualifications
Essential
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, with Grade C or above in English and Maths.
