Marie Curie continues to deliver compassionate end-of-life care across Plymouth through a strong partnership with University Hospitals Plymouth, supporting patients at Derriford Hospital and Mount Gould Hospital. Together, our teams play a vital role in providing comfort, dignity and person-centred care to patients and their families at an incredibly important time.
As this valued service continues to grow, were now looking to expand our team with dedicated Registered Nurses who have experience in palliative and/or end-of-life care, and who share our commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality support.

Job responsibilities
Role: Band 5 Registered Nurse
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent, 37.5 hours per week
Location: University Hospitals Plymouth (on-site) or Mount Gould Hospital (on -site)
Salary:Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale - Band 5 (aligned with AFC) £32,073 - £39,043 (pro rata), plus enhancements, and a whole list of Marie Curie employee benefits.
As a Band 5 Registered Nurse with Marie Curie at University Hospitals Plymouth, you'll provide compassionate, person-centred care to patients approaching the end of life and their loved ones within the hospital setting. You'll deliver hands-on nursing care, conduct holistic assessments, and develop tailored care plans to meet individual needs. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you'll support timely transfers to preferred places of care, ensure high standards of documentation and communication, and maintain dignity and respect for patients at all times.
Your role will also involve advance care planning, effective symptom management, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives. By joining this pioneering partnership, youll help shape the future of end-of-life care in Plymouth, making a meaningful difference during life's most challenging moments.
What were looking for:
- Registered Nurse on NMC Register
- Experience in a palliative/End of Life care setting
- Be person-centred and compassionate when caring for the person and those important to them
- Ability to develop and evaluate care management plans alongside other healthcare professionals that meets the complex needs of the person, and those important to them
- Proven understanding of the barriers and enablers to good communication and how challenges can be overcome
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- Flexibility to provide care in the area with the most need
