Bradford EIP are looking for a professionally qualified and suitably experienced RMN to join our vibrant specialist psychosis service as a band 6 Care Coordinator. The EIP team team works collaboratively with individuals and their families who experience first episode psychosis, utilising a bio psychosocial, spiritual and recovery-based approach to guide care and support.

The successful candidate will join a committed and experienced team that work in a multidisciplinary team approach with access to excellent formal and informal support to support and manage your workload. Caseloads are set at manageable levels and we offer regular clinical and management supervision alongside developmental opportunities relating to EIP approach which include cognitive behavioural therapy, family interventions, physical health, including various in house skills based training to include vocational and psychosocial interventions.

Extensive regular travel across the district is a requirement of the role in order to successfully undertake the range of duties specified within the job description. Therefore, it is  essential that applicants have the ability to travel regularly across the district to meet the needs and demands of the service.

Main duties of the job

As a qualified nurse you will work in partnership with service users, carers and other partner agencies, assess, plan and provide packages of care for individuals and their  families/carers experiencing first episode psychosis. To fulfil all requirements  of CPA Care Co-ordination.  Support with and facilitate the team depot clinic. Provide supervision and support to junior team  members and colleagues.

TRAINING

Desirable

  • Training in Early Intervention in Psychosis
  • CAARMS assessment training
  • Training in assessment of mental health needs
  • Training in Psychosocial Interventions
  • SLIP course (for Mental Health Nurses)

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of the principles of and the evidence base underpinning EIP
  • Knowledge of psychosocial interventions (PSI) and experience of applying PSI principles in practice.

Desirable

  • Understanding of the population within the Bradford and Airedale area and its specific needs.
  • Understanding of the specific service user group of people with suspected first episode of psychosis

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Candidates with professional qualifications (such as RGN) withsubstantial experience of care coordination in a mental health service. Experience of working with adults and/or young people and children with serious mental health problems
  • Experience of care coordination under the care programme approach.
  • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience of working in a community mental health setting.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in an Early Intervention Service/specialist psychosis service
  • Experience of working with people who use/ misuse substances.
  • Experience of working with families.
  • Experience of providing teaching/ training.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Professional qualification in mental health nursing
  • Registration with Professional Body (e.g. NMC)

Desirable

  • Degree level education

Essential

  • Demonstrates values and attitudes necessary for modern mental health practice in an EIP service.
  • Able to work on own initiative, without direct supervision and recognise own limits.
  • Able to integrate and work within a multi-disciplinary team
