The East of England Endoscopy Training Academy (EoEETA) is responsible for developing and delivering endoscopy training to all staff groups within Endoscopy and is offered to all Trusts within the East of England. EoEETA is funded by NHS England and hosted by the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, on behalf of the region. The overall aim of EoEETA is to provide a high quality and enhanced training experience and to accelerate learning to independent practice.

The post holder will work on a regional basis as part of a core EoEETA team, including the Academy Clinical and Deputy Leads, Academy Manager, Nurse Lead and Academy Administrators. The post holder will work closely with regional endoscopy colleagues and NHS England, locally and nationally. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and delivery of Clinical Endoscopist specialist education and development across the region, and therefore this is a regional agile working post. The post holder will lead the regional Clinical Endoscopist training programme and develop the current education and training offer for this staff group.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Clinical Endoscopist who can support the delivery and expansion of Clinical Endoscopist training within the region.

The Clinical Endoscopist Lead will provide specialist advice regarding Clinical Endoscopy to support the deliverables of the EoEETA as set by NHS England. The postholder will provide expert professional advice to develop, lead and implement the education and training strategy. They will support regional workforce expansion, provide regional support on the trainee clinical endoscopist programme and ensure that regional clinical endoscopists’ training needs are met.

The post holder of this role has the opportunity to influence and shape the future of Clinical Endoscopist training on a regional and national basis, and to act as a pioneer for Clinical Endoscopist training programmes for the future. They will work with an enthusiastic team to ensure that high quality education and training is offered to trainee Clinical Endoscopists and also experienced Clinical Endoscopists, who strive to expand the potential of the Clinical Endoscopist role.

You should have a passion for education, an experienced understanding of the Endoscopy service provision, training and education, with experience of working as part of a multi-professional team and a track record of delivering projects to deadlines.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Key tasks that the post holder will need to undertake are:

• Act as a subject matter expert to drive forward and implement NHS England’s objectives and vision for the future of Clinical Endoscopist education.
• Be responsible and accountable for teaching and devising specialist training and development programmes for Clinical Endoscopists across the East of England.
• Ensure that the Clinical Endoscopists follow appropriate training programmes and are supported appropriately
• To develop regional networks to provide teaching and peer support for Clinical Endoscopists and Endoscopy colleagues.
• To work closely with multiple stakeholders in identifying key steps to enable the transition of the Clinical Endoscopist training programme from NHS England to the East of England Endoscopy Training Academy. This will require the post holder to utilise their judgement skills to deal with conflicting demands in reference to the delivery of the Academy and service requirements within the region.
• To lead regionally on the monitoring and audit of Clinical Endoscopist training posts with regards to quality and consistency.
• Be responsible for initiating and implementing research and development programmes as appropriate to the Clinical Endoscopist workforce across the East of England, to help support the overall objectives of the East of England Endoscopy Academy, and the national programme.
