Main duties of the job
This position offers a fantastic opportunity to be part of a fabulous team working within Surgery, Women's and Children's services. You will be responsible for continually improving the quality of services to patients, and redesigning services to meet best practice standards.
You will be a visible leader and provide direction to the services within your portfolio, working in collaboration with clinical leads and matron lead colleagues, as well as other directorate manager colleagues from across the trust. You will be responsible and accountable for the overall management of the services within the directorate. You will develop the strategy for the directorate, playing a key role in identifying opportunities for innovation and modernisation and leading programmes of transformation. You will be responsible for the delivery of all directorate objectives and performance targets, across all 4 quadrants of People, Quality, Operational Performance and Finance, ensuring the service we offer to patients is of the highest quality, safety and efficiency.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

- Demonstrable experience of operational management in an acute or healthcare setting.
- Experience of budgetary management including delivery of cost improvement schemes
- Experience of working with multidisciplinary teams
- Experience of achieving key service improvement outcomes in a challenging fast paced environment.
- Detailed understanding of national access targets
- Evidence of managing complex change at a senior level.
- Sound understanding of and experience in capacity and demand management in relation to patient flow
- Experience of consultant job planning.
- A proven ability to obtain and consistently achieve results and targets
- Complex data analysis
- Able to make difficult decisions in pressurised contexts
- Excellent collaborative working skills and able to build strong relationships with clinical leaders and professional staff groups.
