The Acute Surgical Hub (ASH) is a new space repurposed from the former renal unit at PCH. The new facility has 15 bed spaces and 10 chairs for ambulatory patients. The new facilities provide a much bigger, more suitable space allowing the team space to see more patients, quicker helping to enhance the patient experience and creating flow out of ED and across the organisation.

We are looking to appoint dynamic a full time Deputy Charge Nurse / Sisters to lead our well established team and support the Ward Manager in the provision of outstanding care to the patients under our direct and indirect care.   • Provide high-quality patient care: Deliver compassionate and effective care to patients within the surgical unit, ensuring their needs are met with the highest standards.
  • Work collaboratively with the MDT: Engage with surgeons, nurse practitioners, and critical care outreach teams to deliver coordinated care and ensure positive patient outcomes.
  • Ensure safety and comfort: Monitor patients' condition and provide interventions as necessary, including administering medications, observing vital signs, and responding to patient concerns.
  • Participate in patient education and discharge planning: Support patients and their families with education on post-operative care, recovery, and discharge planning.
  • Maintain accurate patient records: Ensure all documentation is accurate, timely, and compliant with Trust policies and standards.
  • Support team development: Engage in ongoing learning and development, participate in training sessions, and contribute to the development of the team.

  • Experience at Senior Staff Nurse level
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities
  • Demonstrates understanding of ability to lead a clinical area

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Education and qualifications

  • 1st Level NMC Registration
  • Evidence of leadership certification

  • Mentorship qualification or equivalent
  • ILS trained
