Deputy Clinical Operations Manager – Coordination Centre

Exciting new opportunity to join a team of nurses – working with technology to improve patient flow UCLH has a Coordination Centre, which acts as the centre of patient flow management and bed placement for two of its inpatient hospital sites – University College Hospital (UCH) and National Hospital for Neurosurgery and Neurology (NHNN).   The centre brings together clinical site managers and bed managers from both of these sites, to work together using a new patient flow system and real time location technology.

The Coordination centre has hospital wide visibility of operational flows to help the team coordinate and support smooth running on the day and improve demand and capacity planning for our inpatients.  The aim of the Coordination Centre is to remove operational frustrations so that we deliver excellent care all of the time and make every day in hospital a value-added day for our patients.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and patient centred nurse, who has a passion for improving patient flow and reducing delays, to join the team.

Main duties of the job

Deputy Clinical Operations Manager (Band 8a senior nurse)  This is a post that will be on a 24/7 rotation, covering days and nights. This post will provide senior leadership to the Patient Flow/Clinical Site Managers team and be equipped with the knowledge and skills to lead and develop a team, deal with all issues immediately and take appropriate action.  This post will provide a ‘bronze’ level of support to our sites, and out of hours will be the on site clinical manager to deal with incidents and site escalations. The post will deputise for the Clinical Operations Manager when required. This post will also be part of a team responsible for the Management of University College Hospital Grafton Way Building The ideal candidate will have experience in demand and capacity planning, be an excellent communicator and relationship builder and be tenacious in delivering a high quality service.
