Band 6 Deputy Charge Nurse/Deputy Ward Sister

We are looking for a Learning Disabilities/Mental Health Nurse to support leadership within our exciting and compassionate service.

We are an in-patient Learning Disability service, and have a full MDT providing care for our patient group in a hospital environment designed for use.

You must be dedicated and compassionate, with strong leadership skills, and a drive to improve the lives of people with Learning Disability.

Main duties of the job

• Leadership and Management: The Deputy Charge Nurse acts as a leader within the nursing team, providing guidance and support to junior staff and ensuring that high standards of care are maintained. They are expected to be effective role models and facilitate a positive working environment
• Patient Care: This role involves delivering direct clinical care and ensuring that patients receive safe, effective, and person-centered care. The Deputy Charge Nurse is responsible for creating a therapeutic environment and enhancing the quality of care provided to patients
• Collaboration: Working closely with the Charge Nurse and other healthcare professionals, the Deputy Charge Nurse collaborates to identify issues affecting care quality and develops action plans to address these challenges. They also participate in clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives
• Education and Development: The Deputy Charge Nurse is involved in the education and training of nursing staff, helping to develop their skills and competencies. This includes supporting new staff members and facilitating ongoing professional development
• Administrative Duties: In addition to clinical responsibilities, the Deputy Charge Nurse may handle administrative tasks such as scheduling, resource allocation, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and standards
