Job summary

St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice is seeking an experienced Data Protection Officer. This is a key senior role providing independent expert advice and assurance on all aspects of data protection, privacy, and information governance across the organisation including patient, retail, fundraising and third-party contractor information. This role will include travel to all our bases and retail units.

As the Trust's nominated DPO, you will play an important role in ensuring compliance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, acting as the named contact with regulators and supporting an excellent culture of safe and lawful data use.

Working closely with the Board, SIRO, and Caldicott Guardian, you will lead on strategic information governance, provide expert guidance and support on complex issues including advice to clinicians and non-clinical staff.

Main duties of the job

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, this role will lead on data protection policy development, manage information governance risks, coordinate data in relation to subject access requests and GDPR breaches, oversee the annual NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit submission, and deliver face to face training to colleagues at all levels.

We are looking for a knowledgeable and proactive professional with significant information governance and data protection experience.

The post holder will require excellent people skills, and the ability to maintain a culture of compliance and accountability with data protection throughout the different areas of the organisation.
