An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly team within the North Lancashire and South Cumbria Breast Screening Programme at Morecambe Bay Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We have a part-time (30 hours per week to be worked across 4 days Tue-Fri) permanent position available, based in the Breast Screening Unit at Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
We are looking to recruit a Data Coordinator & Speciality Secretary who will collate, input and record service data and provide a full secretarial service, including transcribing clinical information from digital dictation systems. The successful applicant will ensure data quality is maintained for accurate reporting of local and national key performance indicators and will be a focal point for all aspects related to service data and performance.
The successful applicant will need to have a flexible and positive approach to their work, have a good standard of education and previous secretarial and data experience through the use of multiple IT systems is essential. The successful applicant must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages, have excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines with high standards of accuracy.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work to ensure the quality of data held on electronic patient record systems is accurate and of a high quality. The post holder will work closely with the Very High Risk/Senior Data Coordinator to ensure that key performance and clinical information is collated and submitted on a regular basis and to required deadlines. The post holder will be required to input complex histology data and compile reports which relate to a service with a large range of service activities and large volumes of data held in a number of separate computer systems. These reports can portray an inaccurate picture of performance and achievement if there is incomplete or poor-quality data.
The postholder will be expected to provide a robust and comprehensive secretarial and administration service to the Breast Screening Leadership team and breast screening Consultants. To work with the Breast Screening team to ensure cancer targets are maintained.

Provide a full secretarial service
Transcribe dictations and produce and send out clinical letters and results to GP's and Patients
- Produce reports Create and send tertiary referrals Update and maintain patient records
Enter surgical and histology data into the national breast screening database
Monitor increased risk surveillance lists and arrange annual screening
Deal with telephone and written enquiries/complaints
Attend meetings

- Minimum of 4 GCSE’s or equivalent to include maths and English
- NVQ level 3 qualification in administration, or equivalent relevant experience
- Experience of working with data, information and audit
- Previous secretarial experience
