Job overview
CONNECT is a national, award-winning specialist service for adults with eating disorders and is part of LYPFT. The service began treating individuals with eating disorders in 1978 and was previously known as the Leeds Eating Disorders Team and more recently the Yorkshire Centre for Eating Disorders (YCED). The service is the largest eating disorders service in the north of England and provides specialist eating disorders services across the West Yorkshire region, being at the forefront of innovative research. Our vision is wedded to recovery from eating disorders and we aim to assist those who use our services to return to a state of health and wellbeing and promote independence and improved quality of life. Our priority is the people who use our services, and we aim to provide a comprehensive and flexible clinical service that will meet and treat the needs of individuals with eating disorders. We believe that quality of care is dependent on the collective commitment and expertise of the team, including service users and carers, and we have a commitment to developing new treatment techniques and to actively pursue research interests.
The post holder is strongly encouraged to become an active member of the CONNECT research team with opportunities to be involved in ongoing research initiatives.
Main duties of the job
The Trust is seeking a community-based consultant psychiatrist to join the CONNECT service. The post was developed as part of the expansion of existing eating disorders services to significantly reshape both in-patient and community services for adults with eating disorders across the West Yorkshire footprint which has a collective population of 1.98 million people spread across a wide geographical area and has arisen due to retirement of the previous post holder. This service development has provided an opportune moment to join and lead a new and exciting community-based adult eating disorders service and the successful applicant will support the Clinical Lead and wider MDT in implementing and evaluating the new service model in line with NICE (2017) and MEED (RCPsych, 2022) guidelines.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder sought would be a skilled and experienced psychiatrist, working as a part of an MDT, in partnership with service users, carers, and partner agencies, to deliver specialized care to service users in the community.
We recruit people based on their values and qualifications (where required) and believe that their lived experience is an advantage, this means that together we are as diverse as the communities we care for.
