Job overview

We are seeking an inspiring, compassionate and accomplished Consultant Psychiatrist to join our supportive CAHMS Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team (CRHTT)  working with children and young people aged 0–18.

Based at Parkview Clinic, Moseley, you will play a vital role in leading psychiatric assessment and treatment for our young people with acute mental health needs. You will conduct assessments, develop risk management plans, and initiate interventions that prioritise safety and wellbeing.

We are looking for a dedicated and qualified professional with full GMC registration (with a licence to practise) and a medical degree such as an MBBS or equivalent. You will be on the specialist register (CCT / CESR) and hold both Section 12 and Approved Clinician status. With a strong foundation in mental health diagnosis and psychiatry, you will ideally bring experience in CAMHS or CAMHS learning disability services.  As a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent, you will also be a clear communicator, a positive role model, and a team player who thrives in multidisciplinary settings.

Main duties of the job

You will support the CRHTT in multidisciplinary team assessment of patients presenting with acute mental health presentations, risk assessments and management plans and initiation and monitoring of appropriate clinical interventions. You will be part of a skilled MDT, working closely with our Specialty Doctor, Clinical Psychologist, Assistant Psychologists, OT Technician, and Mental Health Practitioners, and collaborating across services to ensure continuity of care.

Your leadership will support junior clinicians, strengthen system-wide partnerships, and help shape the ongoing development of our forward thinking mental health service.

This is your chance to make a real difference to the lives of young people across Birmingham.
